Fun-loving FUN! A few people have asked why I chose to photograph women in their underwear to help promote body positivity. Fair question... Other than the obvious fact that I wanted to showcase the diversity of a woman's body beneath her clothing, there's quite a few reasons I came to this decision. -- We rarely see what lies beneath a woman's clothing, UNLESS she fits into the social standards of what society has dubbed as 'acceptable'. --When we DO see skin of a woman that is outside of these 'accepted' standards it is never in a positive light. Let me give you an example, --You're flipping through a women's magazine and you see a whole lot of size 6-10 female models, mostly in their early 20's, un-scarred, able-bodied etc ect... Now don't get me wrong, these women look great! They do. They have this confidence, a sass a type of happiness about them. But then you get to the back of the magazine, you know, where all those little advertisements are? The advertisements that showcase an array of women with wrinkles, cellulite, stretch marks and acne. Now do the women in these images ever look happy? Nope. They look miserable! But hang on.. That's only in the 'before' image. In their 'after' image they look much happier. Now these women seem to be exuding the same confidence as the women in the front of the magazine... This is my problem! The only time we ever see a woman with these kinds of markings or scarring on her skin, is in the miserable 'before' pictures, in an advertisement telling us that when we 'fix' or 'rid' ourselves of these things we'll magically be happy! Well I say fuck that! Let's teach ourselves to love what we have. Teach ourselves to love the 'before' even if we're still aiming for the 'after'! And this is why I've asked women to wear nothing but their underwear! To see their skin. To show people and ourselves that it's actually possible to have the same confidence and happiness as the women in the magazines present, no matter your appearance. #underneathwearewomen #havefun #givenofucks #peace #bodypositive #funatanyage #strong #funloving #ihaveembraced #effyourbeautystandards #determined #stopthehate #selflove

"After I had my surgery I was never really self conscious of the scar, it was just a reminder of what I had been through... I don't want it to fade... I always want this reminder of how amazing my body and mind really are." -- Underneath I AM ADAPTABLE -- What an incredible woman. We photographed this very special lady over the weekend in Melbourne. Proof that the shyest of introverts can throw themselves into the most confronting of experiences and come out the other end feeling totally empowered and accomplished. I love the way in which Sarah has completely embraced her newly formed exterior embellishment that runs almost the entire length of her abdomen. Her attitude toward what the body is capable of rather than the aesthetic byproduct of major surgery is perfect! On a personal level, this woman is a complete superhero in my eyes. Not only was she incredibly nervous, she also had her three young children with her on the day of the shoot, and STILL managed to keep her cool the entire time and long enough to end up with this final shot that perfectly encompasses her chosen word -- ADAPTABLE. What a perfect role-model she is for her children. They must be three of the most blessed children to have a mother like you Sarah. #rolemodel #mothers #bodiesareamazing #underneathiam #underneathwearewomen #adaptable #coolcalmandcollected #bodypositive #bodylove #whatcanyourbodyaccomplish
