"Osamdesete su bile ludo vreme za muziku. Ova dekada je bila prekrcana kontradikcijama, u isto vreme je bio i uspon hevi metala i najslađi pop poznat čovečanstvu. Jedan bend bio je sinonim za to vreme - The Cure", navodi magazin Farout, koji je objavio listu omiljenih pesama iz osamdesetih Roberta Smita, frontmena ove kultne grupe koja je nedavno gostovala i na novosadskom Exitu.
Smit je bio (i ostao) jedna od najprepoznatljivijih faca iz osamdesetih, naročito u vreme uspona MTV-a u to vreme. Međutim, on nije bio jedini koji je obeležio ovu dekadu, te su se na njegovoj listi našla i imena poput Kejt Buš, Pixies, New Order, i mnogih drugih.
